Ebstein's anomaly. Clinical study of 32 patients in childhood.

چکیده
Thirty-two patients with Ebstein's anomaly are described. A case is made to maintain a clinical diagnosis because of the potential danger ofphysiological investigation. It is also to be noted that in the absence ofpersistent cyanosis or paroxysmal tachycardia, the prognosis of this anomaly in childhood is good, and physiological investigation can be reserved for a preoperative measure. The established criteriafor the clinical diagnosis are the presence ofa 'scratchy diastolic murmur', and of P pulmonale in the absence of right ventricular dominance in the electrocardiogram.

Effect of Ebstein's anomaly on short- and long-term outcome of surgically treated patients with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome.
BACKGROUND Ebstein's anomaly is the most commonly occurring congenital abnormality associated with the Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome. However, the effects of Ebstein's anomaly on the risks and benefits of surgical ablation of accessory pathways in patients with WPW syndrome are unknown. METHODS AND RESULTS This study compared the long-term outcome of 38 WPW patients with Ebstein's anom...

متن کاملSignal-averaged electrocardiogram in Ebstein's anomaly.
We sought to establish pathogenetic links between electrophysiology, histopathology, and ventricular tachyarrhythmias in patients with Ebstein's anomaly. The atrialized right ventricle (ARV) is the site of mechanically inducible ventricular tachyarrhythmias, but relations between the arrhythmogenic substrate, the type of tachyarrhythmias, and the trigger(s) have not been established. This study...
متن کاملEbstein's anomaly in persistent common atrioventricualr canal.
This report documents 2 patients who presented with cyanosis early in life. In both instances the necropsy showed the simultaneous occurrence of an imcomplete type of persistent atrioventricular canal and an Ebstein's malformation of the "tricuspid" valve component. In the first patient no clinical investigations were done. In the second patient the electrocardiogram was consistent with persist...
متن کاملEbstein's anomaly of the tricuspid valve.
Ebstein's anomaly of the tricuspid valve is a rare lesion comprising less than 1% of patients with congenital heart disease. Among congenital heart lesions, Ebstein's anomaly is one of the most diverse in presentation, severity, and management. In its most severe form, it is also one of the most lethal. In this article we present a case of a patient who developed cardiac symptoms in adulthood. ...
